Hi, I'm Anika

I want to use the knowledge of human behavior to create technology that is accessible and inclusive.

Senior @ Carnegie Mellon University

Human-Computer Interaction and Computational Neuroscience
I love finding ways to infuse art into everything. Sometimes it's doodling in the margins of my school notebooks or experimenting with new art forms, but self-expression has always been important to me. Loving art led me to explore classical Indian dance, bhangra in college, mixed media, and wearable tech in fashion. One of my favorite artifacts is my grandmother's repurposed Altoids box, filled with tiny trinkets for my crafts and art projects. Even now, I keep that box with me because somehow, it still brings me the same excitement as when I first received it.

At Carnegie Mellon, I began by studying biology but quickly realized I was more curious about how people think and behave, and I pivoted to neuroscience, and later computational neuroscience. I explored classes (from Gender Studies to the History of Rock n’ Roll) and ultimately found my way to human-computer interaction. Discovering HCI felt like a turning point, where I could merge art, design, cognitive science, and technology. This intersection inspires me, where I can use our understanding of human behavior to create accessible, impactful solutions for people of diverse ages, backgrounds, and abilities.
